Somebody Loves Me
I was selected as one of 20 creators to develop a music video for Drake’s “Somebody Loves Me.” The project brought together visual direction, generative image and video tools, and the judgment involved in developing a sequence that carries a story.
The work behind the images
My background in architecture and visual effects informs how I approach a scene: composition, scale, light, depth, and the relationship between images across a sequence. Generative work adds possibilities that have to be considered within the evolving purpose of the piece.
Working on the video involved recurrent decisions about how changes between images affected the story and what subsequent work required. Those experiences also inform the questions I am developing in my doctoral research.
Creative practice and inquiry
The finished work and the decisions made during production offer different views of the project. The video presents the visual narrative; my research asks how a designer responds to discoveries encountered as work develops.
